Photo show raises $9,000 for repairs to the Bell Tower roof!
We had 220 people in attendance for the July 26th Cocktail Party
and Silent Auction Fundraiser. The event, called "Extremely Mantoloking", was a
juried photography exhibit. Local photographers donated photos of their interpretation
of the show's "Extremely Mantoloking" theme which were then sold during
the silent auction. The proceeds go to the church to be used for the much needed
repairs to the historic Bell Tower.
In addition to the original works that were submitted to the show, a special
catagory has been established for reproductions of historical photos from members
of the community's archives. These photographs, although not part of the juried
process, are also donated to the show and sold in the silent auction.
What an amazing amount of talent there is in our community and St. Simon-by-the-Sea
is so grateful for their support of it's fundraising efforts.

This year's judges were: Linda Hejduk, Susan Kirch and Arthur
Manns Harden, AIA. Thanks
to all three for a great job.
Jane Post and Lynn O'Mealia were co-chairs of the event. Trustee Becky
Schmierer and family, and trustees Jenny Buck and Joan Wright cooked up delectable
hors d'oeuvres served by summer residents Crosby and McKenzie Kapp, Blair Dewing,
Kendall Speno, Hannah Kimbrough and Anna Morris. Trustees
Mark Hawkings and Stephen Foster were bartenders along with Harry
O'Mealia, Julia Vaeth and Brian Kender.
This is an every other year event so the next show will be in the summer of 2011,
the town of Mantoloking's Centennial year. An appropriate theme will be chosen
and we look forward to another great show of original photographs and another
fascinating display of historic photos as well.
